The Essentials of Crime Bulletins

Presenter: Joanna Baranello
Crime Analyst – Fairfax County (VA) Police Department

This presentation explores the critical role of crime bulletins in law enforcement. Between attempting to identify suspects involved in crimes, locating wanted or missing people, or informing of a crime series, bulletins play a vital role in disseminating timely and accurate information to law enforcement. In this presentation, we will analyze the structure and context of effective crime bulletins, with an emphasis on the elements “who, what, where, when and how” that form the foundation of effective communication and actionable intelligence in public safety.

This event is free for VCAN members and $10 for non-members.  The presentation is restricted to law enforcement personnel only, you must use your government email to register.

Event is on January 24, 2025, from 1pm – 3pm Eastern Time. Registration closes at COB on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
