Speaker: Christopher Ryan, Managing Director, Strategic Risk & Security, K2 Intelligence

Abstract: 2010 and 2018 NYC experienced a dramatic reduction in gang related shootings. During that time I was Chief of Violent Crime at the Manhattan DA's Office. I developed a new methodology in which investigative analysts were the principal players in combatting gang violence, with dramatic and durable reductions in shootings and homicides. The presentation will walk through the development of the Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit, which was built around a core of analysts, examine the cases and their effect on violent crime, and discuss how this model has been adopted across NYC and jurisdictions around the country.
